The device has an internal step down converter that is able to tolerate up to 6.5V. It is advised to keep a little safety margin.
With the device fully powered up, wifi connected, ethernet unplugged, the power usage is ~1.2 watts. With a little wifi usage, power draw stays slightly below 2 watts.
The USB port power is directly connected to the micro usb socket.
The device works reliably with an input voltage of 3.3 volts, it crashes reliably at ~2.9 volts.
Together with a USB LTE stick, the idle power usage is jumping between 1.5 and 2.5 watts, whereby little data transfer keeps it at 2.5-3 watts.
