AVM FRITZ!Box 7320

A Lantiq AR9 based 802.11bgn ADSL2+ CPE with DECT and connectors for analog phones as well as 2 USB 2.0 ports.

Has similar hardware like AVM Fritz!Box 7330 (SL) - same firmware can be used.

LAN1 (Lantiq PEF7071V V1.3) bugged - only working if connected at boot, gluon issue 1943.

LAN2 (Lantiq PEF7071V V1.3) not working.

Tested OpenWrt_trunk_12/2019, LAN2 not working, equal SoC → see: AVM Fritz!Box 7330 (SL)

Serial & TFTP

  • get a TFTP Server, e.g. tftpgui version 2.2 - version 3.1 (did not work on Ubuntu 16.10, April2017) and required packages: sudo apt-get install python python-tk
  • set PC-Lan-IP to: 192.168.178.3, Sub: 255.255.255.0, Gateway: 192.168.178.1
  • start tftpgui: sudo python tftpgui.py
  • start serial terminal, e.g.: sudo screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200
  • power on FritzBox and wait till boot finished
  • press Enter to activate BusyBox console:

Web Interface

Default IP: 192.168.178.1 (OEM Firmware), 192.168.1.1 (LEDE, OpenWrt)

Emergency OEM IP: Box is always available on http://169.254.1.1. Set PC IP-address manually in range of 169.254.1.x

FTP

connection to FritzBox: Lan, Serial (optional)

Use FTP if Web Interface is unreachable or image is not accepted. Flashing a non fitting image causes Box not to boot. Flash back firmware backup or stock kernel.image via FTP helps.

It is possible to do a “blind flash” without Serial connected. Flashing back Bootloader not tested & recommended (watch out for mtd2).

  • set PC-Lan-IP to: 192.168.178.3, Sub: 255.255.255.0, Gateway: 192.168.178.1
  • start serial terminal
  • power on FritzBox → interrupt boot immediately pressing a key in serial terminal, then start FTP connection
  • OR power on FritzBox → immediately start FTP connection (did not work - try again connecting a bit later), first 5seconds it accepts ftp connections - ping 192.168.178.1 for 5sec can help

  • @ “Other patches” disable all “AVM daemons”
  • rename firmware.image to .tar → find and extract kernel.image → flash kernel.image

These fixes are only needed on versions before v21.02.0-rc1 as it was fixed in commit 0011c7ad127ba38b28b8a98642d0f815a85887a0

Use the gpiocontrol.sh script to control the USB power. Save the script in /bin, make it executable chmod +x /bin/gpiocontrol.sh and use gpiocontrol.sh 50 out 1 to power up the back USB port, and gpiocontrol.sh 51 out 1 to power up the top/side USB. To do this at boot, place the following commands into /etc/rc.local:

  • gpiocontrol.sh 50 out 1
  • gpiocontrol.sh 51 out 1
