Xiaomi Mi Router 4A (R4AC) 100M (International version)
Warning.!! This hardware not same as Mi Router 4A Gigabit nor Mi Router 4A (MIR4A) 100M (Chinese version), so don't brick your router!
The Xiaomi Mi Router 4A (R4AC) 100M international version is an indoor wireless router based on the MediaTek MT7628AN SoC, with three 10/100 Ethernet ports (2xLAN + 1xWAN), dual band 802.11bgn+ac (dual radio) WiFi and four external non-detachable antennae. The international version's box bears SKU DVB4230GL.
It is similar to MIR4A **Chinese version** but the R4AC international version has a different flash layout
There is a second revision of R4AC international router. It also has a different flash layout. At 09/2024 only nightly snapshot supports it.

If you currently buy a device it probably comes with the software-version 3.xx which the following were used and worked.
Use OpenWRTInvasion to get a root-shell and flash OpenWrt.
- Go to http://192.168.31.1/ and set up the router
- Use OpenWRTInvasion to get a root-shell
- Check the firmware layout with cat /proc/mtd and only proceed if mtd6: 00200000 00010000 “overlay”
- Download the openwrt-sysupgrade-image to
/tmp
and write it to the flash withmtd -r write <image> OS1

Opening the case
Note: This will void your warranty!
To open the case, you need to unscrew the two screws under the sticker and snap off the plastic clips around the perimeter. Use a plastic spudger so as not to marr the case. Plastic is soft and should yield easily.
