Warning!!
The manufacturer have started to use a new flash chip, Zbit Semiconductor part #ZB25VQ128ASIG.
This isn't currently supported by OpenWRT, there's however an error report open at https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/issues/12306
OpenWRT images supporting the new chip can be found at https://github.com/ThranduilII/openwrt/files/11399622/Openwrt-22.03.5-X5000R-Zbit-support.zip.
Until the issue's resolved, you CANNOT use any official OpenWRT image, only the one from the link above.
Please check your flash chip before flashing OpenWRT.
You will see the following message on the console if you have an unsupported chip

Edit September 2023: There is even another Flash chip, which works with the regular OpenWRT builds. The part is labeled “XMC PPF39300_08” (or similar, hard to read)

Installation
- Download the OpenWrt sysupgrade image as shown above
- Flash using OEM web UI
Back to stock firmware
- Poweroff / unplug power adapter from the router
- Download the X5000R factory image from https://www.totolink.net/home/menu/detail/menu_listtpl/download/id/218/ids/36.html
- Set your computer ethernet IP to 192.168.1.X, subnet 255.255.255.0 (X=your chosen ip number ranging from 2-254)
- Press and hold reset button while turn on / plug power adapter to the router. Wait untill ALL LAN green LED turn on, then release the reset button.
- Plug the LAN cable from your computer into LAN 1 port
- Confirm that you can connect to the router by ping 192.168.1.1 from command prompt / terminal
- If you get reply from 192.168.1.1, then open web browser, and type in the address column : 192.168.1.1
- You will get the X5000R firmware update page, then choose the factory-firmware file from previously downloaded file
- Wait untill the router finish flashing (the router will reboot by itself) : Blue led dan green LAN led will blinking
- Revert the computer ethernet ip to automatic
- Open in web browser : itotolink.net or 192.168.0.1
- Finish, you should get Totolink web gui config page

Opening the case
There are 4 screws and a lot of plastic clips. No screws behind stickers or anything.

→ port.serial The serial port of the X5000R can be accessed using the TTL 3.3V pins behind the power plug connector. A voltage level converter (such as a MAX3232 TTL-RS232 dongle) is required.
The communication settings are: 115200, 8N1
TFTP
From u-boot menu option 2, the sysupgrade Openwrt firmware can be downloaded. OEM firmware can be reloaded as well.
Default TFTP server address : 192.168.1.2 (other server IP can be input)
Default FW file name : test.bin (other file name can be input)
