NETGEAR EAX12 series

The NETGEAR EAX12 series (EAX12, EAX11v2, EAX15v2) are wall-plug 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) extenders that share the SoC, WiFi chip, and image format with the WAX202.

Flash the factory image through the stock web interface, or TFTP to the bootloader. NMRP can be used to TFTP without opening the case.

→ generic.sysupgrade

• Browse to http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/luci/mini/system/upgrade/ LuCI Upgrade URL
• Upload image file for sysupgrade to LuCI
• Wait for reboot

If you don't have a GUI (LuCI) available, you can alternatively upgrade via the command line. There are two command line methods for upgrading:

• sysupgrade
• mtd

Note: It is important that you put the firmware image into the ramdisk (/tmp) before you start flashing.

• Login as root via SSH on 192.168.1.1, then enter the following commands:

cd /tmp
wget https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/23.05.5/targets/ramips/mt7621/openwrt-23.05.5-ramips-mt7621-netgear_eax12-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
sysupgrade /tmp/xxx.abc

→ generic.debrick

→ failsafe_and_factory_reset

→ Basic configuration After flashing, proceed with this.
Set up your Internet connection, configure wireless, configure USB port, etc.

The default network configuration is:

• To remove the cover and open the device, you need to open the plastic case. There are now screws. Be careful to not break anything.
