The Cudy M1800 is a Mesh system from Cudy, having Wifi 6 support and two Gigabit LAN ports. It is typically sold in pairs of two or three. Sometimes, the selling name includes AX1800 like in “Cudy AX1800 Whole Home Mesh WiFi System M1800”.
While there also existed a v1 version which is already EOL (End-of-Life), the V2 will have support until somewhat 2027 according to Cudy's support page.
There are two known options:
1) The Luci-based UI.
2) Press and hold the reset button during power up. The router will request 'recovery.bin' from a TFTP server at 192.168.1.88.
Both options require a signed firmware binary. The openwrt image supplied by cudy is signed and can be used to install unsigned images.
One can download the OpenWRT image at: http://www.cudytech.com/openwrt_software_download (https does not work on this page)
There is only an OpenWRT image for the M1800 v2. If you have a device which has a Firmware-Version of 2.x - this is the v2 version of the M1800.
Note: If you have a device with a 1.x Firmware version, the openwrt images are not accepted and there is no path forward to install OpenWrt on these EOL devices yet.
One can play around with the UI in the browser to get a feel using the Cudy emulator: https://support.cudy.com/emulator/M1800/

These are generic instructions. Update with your router's specifics.
http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/luci/mini/system/upgrade/ LuCI Upgrade URLIf you don't have a GUI (LuCI) available, you can alternatively upgrade via the command line. There are two command line methods for upgrading:
sysupgrademtdNote: It is important that you put the firmware image into the ramdisk (/tmp) before you start flashing.
cd /tmp wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/XXX/xxx.abc sysupgrade /tmp/xxx.abc
If sysupgrade does not support this router, use mtd.
cd /tmp wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/XXX/xxx.abc mtd write /tmp/xxx.abc linux && reboot
→ Basic configuration After flashing, proceed with this.
Set up your Internet connection, configure wireless, configure USB port, etc.

The default network configuration is:
| Interface Name | Description | Default configuration |
|---|---|---|
| br-lan | EXAMPLE LAN & WiFi | EXAMPLE 192.168.1.1/24 |

Numbers 0-3 are Ports 1-4 as labeled on the unit, number 4 is the Internet (WAN) on the unit, 5 is the internal connection to the router itself. Don't be fooled: Port 1 on the unit is number 3 when configuring VLANs. vlan0 = eth0.0, vlan1 = eth0.1 and so on.

Opening the case is little Challenging. First remove the white plastic cover from the top. Below you will find a screw, remove this.
from the right of the cudy truy to insert a thin metal and move the gray plastic out. be careful there are 4 antennas glued to this plastic part.
Remove this with soft action from the plastic.
From here I was not able to get the PCB mounted on the plastic out. To me it looked like the LED cover is inside the plastic cut out of the main body. may you can get out the PCB if the two screws around the LED get losen. I was not able to get the PCB out of the case.
