A gateway manufactured by Netis Korea aimed for the South Korean market and is currently only sold via the auction site GMarket (available in english)

It's similar to other platforms based on the Mediatek MT7621A SoC with the exception that it comes with 128Mbyte of flash memory.

Currently you can only install OpenWrt by using stock webshell or U-Boot
Sysupgrade is supported by device and is the recommended way of upgrading.

M1200AC only can use U-Boot method.

If device is bricked,
The only way to debrick is via UART

Before you start, setup tftp server, prepare sysupgrade.bin for WF2881 and rename it to fw.bin

  1. upgrade router to version 1.8.0 (since 1.8.1 secret password seems to be changed, just downgrade to 1.8.0)
  2. login router admin page (default address http://192.168.1.1)
  3. go to stock web shell /syscmd.htm
  4. type secret password 'netis-yun' in input box
  5. type 'cd /tmp && tftp -g -r fw.bin <your tftp server ip>'
  6. check your firmware downloaded completely with 'ls -all /tmp/fw.bin' (file size check)
  7. 'mtd_write write /tmp/fw.bin mtd4 && reboot'

The device can be flashed via bootloader (U-Boot), serial connection is needed.

  1. Select option 2
  2. If you see warning, Press 'Y'
  3. Set your desired tftp client ip, server ip, file name (openwrt-ramips-mt7621-WF-2881-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin)
