D-Link DWR-118

The DWR-118 A1 Wireless Router is based on the MT7620A SoC. It has a 802.11bgn radio (SoC-integrated), 802.11ac radio (MT7610EN), three 100Mbit Ethernet ports (3 LAN) and two Gigabit LAN (1 WAN and 3 LAN).

The DWR-118 A2 Wireless Router is based on the MT7620A SoC. It has a 802.11bgn radio (SoC-integrated), 802.11ac radio (MT7612EN), four 100Mbit Ethernet ports (1 WAN and 3 LAN) and one Gigabit LAN .

The unit is advertised as a 3G/4G router, however requires a supported dongle to be inserted into the USB port to add this functionality.

Install OpenWrt (generic explanation)

Apply factory image via http web-gui or via JBOOT recovery service.

To revert changes, please upload stock firmware via JBOOT recovery service.

FIXME Use stock web-gui.

  1. Push the reset button and turn on the power. Wait until LED start blinking (~10sec.)
  2. Upload original factory image via JBOOT http (IP: 192.168.123.254)
  3. If http doesn't work, it can be done with curl command:
    curl -F FN=@XXXXX.bin http://192.168.123.254/upg

    where XXXXX.bin is name of firmware file.

  • Browse to http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/luci/mini/system/upgrade/ LuCI Upgrade URL
  • Upload image file for sysupgrade to LuCI
  • Wait for reboot

If you don't have a GUI (LuCI) available, you can alternatively upgrade via the command line using 'sysupgrade'.

Note: It is important that you put the firmware image into the ramdisk (/tmp) before you start flashing.
