Installation Using D-Link Recovery GUI
- Turn off the router.
- Connect a Ethernet cable between one of the LAN ports on the rear of the router and the network port of your computer.
- Configure your computer to have a static IP Address other than 192.168.0.1 (example: 192.168.0.11)
- Press and hold the reset button on the rear of the router.
- While holding the reset button power up the router.
- Continue holding until the blue lights blink.
- Open a web browser and enter the following address http://192.168.0.1
- I have rename the factory openwrt firmware for this device to DIR1960A1_FW111B03_beta_.bin
- Using the Choose File button select the router firmware and click upload.
- It will then count up to 100% then display Upgrade successfully.
- Change your computer IP Address to obtain automatically.
- Turn off and on the router.
- Open a web browser.
- Access OpenWrt by typing http://192.168.1.1 on the web browser.

LuCI Web Upgrade Process
- Browse to
http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/luci/mini/system/upgrade/LuCI Upgrade URL - Upload image file for sysupgrade to LuCI
- Wait for reboot
Terminal Upgrade Process
If you don't have a GUI (LuCI) available, you can alternatively upgrade via the command line. There are two command line methods for upgrading:
sysupgrademtd
Note: It is important that you put the firmware image into the ramdisk (/tmp) before you start flashing.

- Login as root via SSH on 192.168.1.1, then enter the following commands:
